Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Delhi

You will arrive at New Delhi airport. YMT representative with pla card of your name/group will receive you at the exit gate number 6 (If you are not able to find him/her, please wait in front of Gate 6). 45-60 minutes’ drive to Hotel. Check in and rest of the day at leisure. Night Stay at hotel.

Note – The check-in time in the hotels in India is from 1400 hours. If you are arriving early, inform us on time and we will pre-book your hotel on appropriate charges.

Day 2Day 2 Haridwar

Haridwar is the famous pilgrimage among Hindus. Hindu pilgrims visit Haridwar for salvation. Hindu pilgrims from all over India travel to bank of river Ganges to take a dip into the river to come out of cycle of re- birth.

11:30 am – Meet your Meditation coach & Tour leader at lobby for Welcome briefing.  In 30 minutes, he will take your questions about the itinerary and tour.

1:00 PM – Check out and depart to Railway station for Haridwar, Train journey is of 4 hours (approx.) in air-conditioned coach. En-route Vegetarian lunch. Arrive in Haridwar and transfer to hotel. We’ll go for evening walk at Har ki pauri situated at bank of river Ganges to see the evening prayer ceremony and rituals performed by Hindu devotees. The Ganges is India’s holiest river, descends from Himalayas. There are numerous bathing ghats and temples. These bustling sites of ritual Hindu practices, performed by pilgrims for the salvation of their ancestors and their own expiation, demonstrate their strong faith in the power of river. Day 3Rishikesh

An ancient spiritual center, Rishikesh is located on the banks of the Ganges amid lush, wooded hills. Rishikesh is the world capital of Yoga now after the visit of famous Beatles in 1960. It is the place which has maximum number of Yoga studios in India. In ancient time Indian yogis used to come down to this lower region of Himalayas during winters. Rishikesh offers charm to yoga lovers.

9:30 am – Check out and Depart to Rishikesh (20 minutes’ drive), on the way visit to Gayatri monastery where they chant Gayatri mantra {most famous mantra of Hindus} and practice fire ritual on fire alter every day. We’ll Visit Gurukul Kangari University, a renowned center of Vedic knowledge, where students are taught by their gurus in the traditional oral style.

12 noon – Lunch

1:30 pm – Check in and rest

4:30 pm – Walk into the narrow streets of Rishikesh along with cows, bulls, sadhus/monk and locals. We’ll visit “Muni ki reti” (means Sand of sages) an ashram at Triveni ghat where great Hindu monks mediated.

Day 4Rishikesh

5:15 am – Static yogasana   – Optional

9:30 am – Depart for Shivpuri, (2 hours’ drive) the most scenic camp sites, offering splendid views of the river Ganges.  Enjoy river rafting (optional)

12:30 noon – Lunch and walk along the bank of river Ganges in the lush green forest and meditate, drive back to Ashram

7:00 pm – Dinner and Night Stay 

Day 5Shimla

Shimla is a popular hill station. It became the summer capital of British government in 1864. It is full of colonial architecture. The best way to explore Shimla is walk along the many meandering roads and byways. These forest roads help an individual to live in present. Alongside the forest roads visit the colonial architecture and picnic spots of local.

Day 6Shimla

9:30 am – Depart for sight scene of Jakhu hill temple. The forested dome of Jakhu Hill at 2,450 m is the highest point in Shimla. At its peak stands a temple dedicated to monkey God Hanuman. God Hanuman rested here during his journey.  This hill is the kingdom of monkeys. Enjoy the cable ride to reach at top.  Meditate here and feel the energy.

12:30 noon – Lunch and Back to hotel rest

4:30 pm – walk at Shimla mall road, a popular promenade and the center of Shimla’s busy social and cultural scene. A favored pastime of for both locals and visitors is to stroll along the Mall from Scandal point to Combermere Bridge.

7 :00 pm – Dinner and Night stay.

Day 7MANDI

This is called city of Ghats {Bath steps} and stone carved Hindu temples. It is situated at the bank of river Beas. This princely state was once vital link between hill communities. The busy market located in sunken garden in the center of town, where all manner of merchandise is sold. If possible than we will stay in the Heritage palace of the Mandi’s king.

9:30 am – Check out and depart to Mandi (4 hours’ drive by coach/car)

Lunch on the route

4:30 pm – walking along the Ghats and temples of Mandi town.This town is also called “Varanasi of hills”, choti Kashi. 300 old and new temples are located in Mandi. Most of the temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Shakti. If time permits than we’ll visit Panchvaktra temple (commissioned by king in 1684), a silent meditation here can bestow the people with good health and purify their souls.

7 :00 pm – Dinner and Night stay at Hotel

Day 8Dharmshala

Known as Little Tibet, this hill station is home of the Dalai Lama. 10,000 Tibetans live over here. Buddhist from across the world visits this pilgrimage including Hollywood actor Richard Gere. Many famous Buddhist teachers have been trained here at Tushita Meditation center. Murals of Avlokiteshvara, wheel of time and Padamsambhava at the Buddhist temple and architecture are beautiful and breathe taking.

Lunch and visit of Norbulinka Monastery

5:00 pm – Walk to Tsuglagkhang Complex whch contains the residence of Dalai Lama and Main Buddhist Temple. The temple has three beautiful images of Sakyamuni( the historical Buddha),  Avalokitesvara and Padmasambhava. Another temple in the complex has an intricate mural of the Kalachakra(“Wheel of Time”) and Goddess Green Tara (Goddess of compassion).

Day 9Dharmashala

5:15 am – Static yogasana   – optional

8:00 am – Depart to Tushita meditation center at Dharamkot.  After meditation we walk into the mud huts of Buddhist monks into the forest where they practice silent meditation for 10 days, one month and 3 years continuously without any contact with modern world.

12 noon Lunch

4:00 pm : Visit to Naddi village (30 minutes drive) – Natives of Naddi village claim that they are descendants of Lord Shiva. No king or queen has ever ruled them.  View of mountain ranges from this village is breathtaking. We will see the old village architecture too.

Night Stay.

Day 10Amritsar

City of nectar, this is the holy city of Sikh religion. Sikhism is the youngest religion among Indian religion. The culture of Punjab is very live. Dance, music, food are major part of culture. The architecture is blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. Glittering Golden Temple is the highlight of Amritsar. The temple kitchen feeds 50,000 devotees and visitors every day. It is a heritage city. Sikh devotees from all over the world visit the Golden temple of Amritsar once in their life time.

4:30 pm – Walk to the Golden temple to see sunset effect on the glittering Golden temple. Do Social service at community kitchen with Sikh devotees. Dinner at community kitchen with devotees (optional).

Day 11Agra

Agra is 5,000 years old city and famous in all over the world for Tajmahal. Agra was the seat of Mughal Empire in 1565, this single family and their descendants ruled half of India from Agra for 100 years. Artisans of marble inlay art and jewelers of Agra are world famous. Mughal costumes were full of best and big Rubies and emeralds which world saw first time.

6:00 am – Early morning visit to Golden temple (no yoga session)

9:00 am – Breakfast

10:30 am – Check out and depart to airport for flight to New Delhi (1 hours & 25 minutes)

Day 12Agra

Early morning visit to Taj mahal (No yoga session)

8:30 am – Breakfast

10:00 am – Walk into the narrow street of old town of Agra where from all Agra shoppers visit to do shopping. Then we’ll visit to Private Mughal art gallery. It was started by one of the descendants of the artisan who used to serve Mughal emperor during the construction of Taj mahal and experience the beautiful Marble Inlay art of Taj mahal.

Lunch at noon, back to hotel and rest

4:00 pm – Agra fort is situated on the west bank of the river Yamuna, it was reconstructed by King Akbar in between 1565 to 1573. Agra fort encompass an enormous complex of courtly buildings was the home of Mughals, it is a large and humungous fort and after fort we’ll meet descendants of Taj Mahal artisans (7th generation).

Day 13Jaipur

A labyrinth of fascinating bazaars, opulent palaces, and historic sights, Jaipur is often called the “Pink city” because its prominent buildings are washed in this color. This city was commissioned by Hindu King Jai singh II.  It is a planned city which took 6 years in construction. Jaipur is laid out in a geometric grid of streets and square .

Evening visit to Jantar Mantar – The Jantar Mantar is a collection of 19 astronomical instruments built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh II, the founder of Jaipur, Rajasthan It features the world’s largest stone sundial, and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Later visit the Private Jeweler of Maharaja. This place is situated in old town of Jaipur, it was started by one of the jeweler who used to serve British and local Kings.

Day 14Jaipur

9:00 am – Depart to visit Amer fort, this was the palace of Hindu king in 16th century; this is a large and humungous fort where King used to live with his 12 wives. The descendent of same King established Jaipur in 17th century.

12:00 pm: Depart to meet rural co-operative society working on camel wool and silk hand-woven carpets. This place grows nothing so villagers started developing other options than agriculture for living. Proceed for lunch. Later back to hotel and rest.

4:00 pm – Visit to Albert hall museum. This grand, multi layered museum was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob, a master of the Indo- Saracenic style.

Delhi

8 am – Breakfast

9:30 am – City palace – This has been the home to the rulers of Jaipur since the first half of the 18th century.

12 Noon – Check out after lunch and depart to New Delhi for your flight to USA. Or go on your private extended trip to other cities of India, Bhutan and Nepal.
